Dear Editor
I bought your e-book and have read it. It is a great read and it has given me hope that I can also (with sufficient practice) become a good raconteur.

ARTICLES FOR STORYTELLERS |
How Long Is A Chapter?
How long should your chapter
be?
I can't resist... I have to
say it.
"How long is piece of
string?"
Of course, that smart-aleck
answer is of no use to you whatsoever if you're sitting there,
frozen over the keyboard, wondering where you should end Chapter One
and start typing 'Chapter Two'.

"I've shot the Bear" - interview with Rosemarie Somaiah
Excerpts ...
Rosemarie:I was born in India and grew up there. India is a land of such incredible diversity, that anything you say about India could possibly be true of about a million people and possibly completely untrue of about 9 million people. So, though my childhood was unique in some ways, it was considered fairly standard for the people that I grew up with, in that particular time and place

Association with Storytellers - interview with Dianne (Di) Bates
Excerpts ...
Di:
Australia still has no national charter of rights for children, nothing
that legally standardises how adults shall treat children and what
rights a child has in relation to the law. This allows abusive parents
to move their children around the country at whim. Even within the state
where I live – NSW – the departmental body responsible for the care of
abused children is so under-resourced that child deaths can and do
occur, even when there have been multiple notifications of abuse from
concerned adults – doctors, relatives, teachers, neighbours. Yes,
superficially children appear to do well in our ‘civilised’ country, but
under the surface they are vulnerable. The law needs to be changed,
resources need to be greatly increased.

BRIGHT LIGHTS AND BAGPIPES
Excerpts ...
The summer season has begun in Great Britain and in Edinburgh, this means festivals galore. Not only is Edinburgh the host city for the world famous annual military tattoo, but the city also orchestrates five incredible festivals throughout the summer months that bring thousands of visitors from around the globe. It is nearly impossible to walk down the Royal Mile during the month of August without being bombarded with flyers for various comedy shows, musicals, cabarets and Shakespearean plays performed on bouncy castles. From the month of June until September, Edinburgh takes New York’s title as the city that doesn’t sleep and overwhelms visitors and locals with the variety and diversity of the entertainment it provides on a twenty-four hour basis.

The higher you go (2)
Excerpts ...
So why don’t you begin to compress your thoughts, actions, ways and methods. The way you work and live; why don’t you compress and simplify them, chill your atmosphere and make life and work easier for you.

PAYING MARKETS FOR STORYTELLERS |
Christian Writing Markets
Excerpts ...
Christian Writing; it's a market so big that it cannot be ignored. Typical of Christian writing, both the publications featured below insist upon true stories. Would it be unchristian to pass off as a true story something you invented? I'll leave you to make up your own minds on that one.

Amazon.com and Paypal – Anyone in the world can buy (usually) but not everyone in the world can sell.
Excerpts...
I know that when I started, I desperately wanted my books to be sold via Amazon.com; furthermore, as Paypal
was free to join and seemed very popular, I wanted to use this facility.
After much research, I knew that it would be financially and physically
impossible for me to do this. When Bill Keeth faced his problems with
his book, I wanted to know if things had improved and did some research.

STORYTELLER'S NUTS AND BOLTS |
Lay or Lie?
Since the 14th century people have been getting confused when using lay and lie. Just what is the difference between these two words and why do we always get them mixed up?

Virgo's Child
Excerpts ...
Virgo children are usually quite easy to raise. They are neat, organized, and have a gentle sense of humor that you will enjoy. They are rarely hateful and mean. They are so well behaved that I think most parents just sort of leave them to themselves since they are like miniature adults.

The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night-Time
by Mark Haddon
Excerpts
... For me, this novel is a cross between a murder-mystery novel and a literary
one. For one, the plot of this story is very much in the style of a whodunit –
throughout, the reader is kept guessing about the answer to the question, “Who
murdered this dog?” All the clues are placed in the appropriate places in the
novel, the characters are defined and dialogue genuine. And yet, the style of
writing is so unique:...
