Dear [FIRSTNAME],
I am sorry I had to miss publishing the last
edition of the newsletter. There was a minor
crisis in my family. All sorted now!
In this edition, there are new pieces from most of our contributors.
There are also new interviews and Summer Morris makes an offer specially
for the readers of this newsletter.
I have still not found anyone who'd like to
contribute a book for our contest. If you'd like
free publicity for your work, please offer your
book. In addition, if you'd like to be
interviewed or have a book you'd like to offer,
please contact me by email at

Here's to your storytelling success.

ARTICLES FOR STORYTELLERS |
Great
Resources For Publishing Your Works!
Are you the next
great budding
novelist among us?
What story have you
written that you
can~t wait to tell?
Are you passionate
about a hobby and
want to share your
knowledge with
fellow enthusiasts?
As a writer, you
share one thing in
common among each
other: the pursuit
of a means to get
your written works
out to the general
public. When large
publishing houses
once dominated the
book market, a
literary agent was
needed to promote
your works. This
needed to be
established before
an editor would
consider your
writings.

Storyteller of Nottingham - interview with Tony Bowers
Excerpts ...
Aneeta: Tony, thank you for agreeing to this
interview. Please tell me a little about your early life – where were
you born, where did you grow up, what you do for a living and where do
you live now?
Tony: I was born in Nottinghamshire, England
(famous for Robin Hood!!) I am a lawyer by profession but have run
companies of my own for years and finally became a consultant.

Summer of Storytellers - interview with Summer Morris
Excerpts ...
Aneeta: I am aware that what I am about to ask you may be difficult, but
I’d ask you to consider it anyway – do you think that you use storytelling
techniques in the work you do?
Summer: Definitely. As I mentioned briefly in the process of creating, I
like to think that designing is much like storytelling. I find myself become
quite attached to elements of any work that I produce. Colors, especially,
affect my mood and my creativity and in turn the piece that I create. Much like
the characters in books, I often reminisce about designs that I’ve created in
the past and try to use them to my advantage in creating something new. The
elements of design are so important when attempting to get the point across.
Without careful organization and planning on a designer’s part, the message
could become skewed and the end result confusing.

How
to break the habit of writing bad English
In 1946, George Orwell published an essay,
Politics and the English Language. Although the
essay has a political slant, storytellers who would like to learn the
art of storytelling should read this article in its entirety. The essay
shows how people develop a bad writing habit and how to break this
habit. What I have done, in this article, is to pick out the most
relevant bits of what Mr. Orwell wrote and highlight them for you:

Pisces'
Child
Excerpts ...
In general, Pisces is
misunderstood and ends up as a loner. They love people and have a deep
desire to connect on a spiritual soul-to-soul level, but they end up protecting
themselves behind walls for their own safety. People think they are soft
and wishy-washy but in reality, they are quite stubborn and from birth to grave,
they remain true to themselves.

The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
The
Good Earth
is a novel by Pearl S. Buck published in 1931. It was
awarded the Pulitzer Prize for the Novel in 1932. The Good Earth
is a story I’ve read over and over again.
In my copy of the book, Ms. Buck has written an
Introduction. It is dated June 1949 and in part, explains why she wrote
the book. It was the time when a new system of government was
operational in China.

The Alchemist
by Paulo Coelho
If you have read
my review of
The Zahir, by the same author, you’ll know that
I was meant to read this book first. Circumstances were
such that I ended up reading this book second. Still,
this was one book that seemed to be highly recommended
by lots of other authors; for instance, there was a
comment by Kenzaburo Oé, winner of the Nobel Prize in
Literature.
