Cheap and chic wedding blooms for the budget bride
It’s that time of the year when love is in the air and I do’s are exchanged freely. As for us at
Nook, the next couple of months will see us working closely with quite a few brides to help them create the wedding that they’ve envisaged.
Fresh flowers always add a classy touch to weddings; however, depending on the level of extravagance one decides to go with or the choice of flowers utilised, this could turn out to be a pricey affair. So, here are a couple of tips and thoughts on how you can get the look you want without burning a hole in your bank account.
Use seasonal or local flowers
In a country such as Malaysia, there are myriad choices available and a wise bride knows these would cost significantly less than imported flowers. Also, when it comes to using imported flowers be mindful of their seasons of availability. Be prepared to compromise on choice of bloom and be open to suggestions.
Use cheaper blooms in abundance
The way I see it, you could choose expensive blooms and use them sparingly or create a lush, monochromatic theme with inexpensive flowers such as chrysanthemums. Use them in abundance and create a garden like atmosphere.
Colour palette
Simplicity always works when it comes to selecting colours. My advice is not to exceed three colours. Remember florists order flowers in bulk and the more colours and choice you incorporate the more this translates to in costs as well.
Recycle
Bridesmaids don’t usually have any use for their posies after the ceremony. These then can be converted into table centerpieces – just plonk them into a suitable vase with water. Voila! Also, advise your florist that you would like to transfer flowers from the ceremony to the reception venue so that the necessary adjustments can be made.
