European Paying Markets

 

SCANORAMA, is the in-flight magazine of Scandinavian Airways (SAS) and feature business and lifestyle content. Its readers are aged 25-50, are highly educated, affluent, travel often, and speak several languages. While Scanorama's editorial focus is on Scandinavia, it will also consider relevant submissions from around the world, especially profiles of high achievers in the fields of business, sports, politics, music, arts, literature, design, etc.

Length: Up to 1,750 words.

May accept longer features (up to 2,400 words) but has to be agreed in advance.

NEW HORIZONS UK http://www.britishfantasysociety.org  

 

Whilst not a paying market, this magazine may be just what the unpublished Horror or SF writer is looking for, a chance to get exposure.

 

New Horizons is a bi-annual journal, first launched this year and is published by the British Fantasy Society. Focuses on new writers within the fantasy, horror and science fiction genres and aims to contain a mix of fiction, articles and interviews, the emphasis being on 'new'. Prefers stories 3,000-5,000 words, but is willing to consider longer or shorter. Stories over 10,000 words will only be accepted occasionally.

 

Prefers e-mail submissions with "NH submission query" in subject line. However, will take postal submissions for those without e-mail. This is a non paying market. However, gives complimentary copies and "...what we can't pay in money we can pay in exposure."

THE BIG ISSUE is an Australian publication seeks to provide a way for people who have experienced homelessness and long-term unemployment to participate in society as independently as possible. For features and news stories pays $0.20 cents per word. Payment for film, book, DVD and CD reviews is a flat rate of $30.
