Paying Markets for Storytellers

Welcome. On this page, I will endeavour to provide a list of all the resources I can find about storytelling. There are some sites which seem a little 'dated' - i.e. where the information fixes a date by which you have to submit work. In addition, I've not listed all the guidelines stipulated by the resources. It's up to you to make the necessary queries. I'm just listing the sites I've come across which allow submission for stories.

One book which should be your first point of reference is the following:

Children's Writers' And Artists' Yearbook 2006 (Yearbook)

Writers' & Artists' Yearbook 2007 (Writers' and Artists' Yearbook)

Book Description
The bestselling guide in all areas of the media is completely revised each year. New articles include pieces on self-publishing, how to publicize your books, crime writing and how to attract the attention of a literary agent.

If you do not have the financial resources to invest in these books, then, you may wish to have a look at the following markets which may or may not buy your stories ...

Paying Markets For Storytellers

20ishParents.com Writer's and Submission Guidelines

20ishParents welcomes submission of articles by freelance writers for publication.

Article Topics but not limited too:

General Parenting, Toddlers, Pregnancy, Family, Humor, Dads, Frugal Living, Home Living, Expert advice.

All articles can include a bio along with the publication. Please double check spelling, grammar.

20ish Parents accepts article submissions.  Moms, writers, website owners, free lancers, or anyone else interested may submit their work.  All article submissions must be the writer's original work.  The writer retains all rights to their work.   By submitting this form you are granting permission for 20ish Parents to run your work with your byline and bio.  Articles are automatically archived unless other arrangements are made beforehand.  Questions and comments about submissions should be directed to comments@20ishparents.com.

Agni

AGNI publishes poetry, short fiction, and essays. ... AGNI regularly features emerging writers and "among readers around the world . . . is known for publishing important new writers early in their careers, many of them translated into English for the first time" (PEN American Center). Most of what we publish is unsolicited....AGNI welcomes unsolicited manuscripts between September 1st and May 31st. We adhere strictly to postmark dates, and submissions mailed outside that period will be returned unread, provided that sufficient return postage is included. AGNI’s reporting time is approximately 2-4 months.

Each submission may be accepted for publication in AGNI or (with a writer's permission) AGNI Online. We pay $10 per printed (or printed-out) page for all accepted work ($20 minimum for the print magazine; $150 maximum for both), along with a year's subscription, and, for the print magazine, two contributor's copies and four gift copies of the issue.

Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine

Finding new authors is a great pleasure for all of us here, and we look forward to reading the fiction you send us. Since we do read all submissions, there is no need to query first; please send the entire story. You don't need an agent. Because this is a mystery magazine, the stories we buy must fall into that genre in some sense or another. ... We sometimes accept ghost stories or supernatural tales, but those also should involve a crime.
